Goodbye 2010! Hello 2011!

What a year it has been - for our family we have been so blessed in 2010. We got to travel a little bit with our trips to Wisconsin (3 this year- WOW!), and of course Disney. We have shared laughter, tears, and created so many memories as a family.

2011, if you are only half as good as 2010 it will be a great year!

All the best to you in 2011 - wishing you nothing but love, peace and happiness!

Whew! With Star sightings!

What a week! We went north for the Christmas holiday. It was really nice to have a white Christmas.

We did quite a few of the "S"'s. Skiing, sledding, skating, swimming were all on the agenda. The kids had a ball.

Day One - we ice skated and went sledding in the backyard! The kids had never been and they lasted all of an hour before their feet hurt. My poor husband couldn't skate because they didn't have his gigantic shoe size. That night we had a birthday party for princess and my husband's sister. It was a ball.

Day Two - Christmas Eve- it was also super fun. We went sledding on this HUGE sledding hill in Sheboygan, WI. It was so fun - the kid's had so much fun (except for walking up the hill). At this point husband and I had decided that baby boy's ear infection was back. (He was miserable on the plane - we thought it was just his ears popping - but no). So after numerous phone calls to our ped in Tulsa, we had a prescription called in (not by our ped) to a pharmacy in WI. It saved us the hassle of the urgent care - which is where our ped wanted us to spend Christmas eve. UGH! Then we had a lovely Christmas dinner - my husband's sister and her husband and kiddos were off on Christmas morning. Well sort of....

Day Three - Christmas - it was a lazy day around the house. My poor husband's sister ended up sick - so her family left and she stayed in bed, all day. It was bad you just felt awful for her.

Day Four - PACKER DAY!!! We got to see the Packer game! It was AWESOME! They won and it was good. I also got to see Joe Jonas and Ashley Greene at the game. They were literally next to us for at least a quarter or two. I did sneak a picture of them for my nieces.

Day Five - Princess's Birthday! we were up early and it was off to the ski hill. We went to Granite Peak. The skiing was great. I haven't skied in 10 years so it was nice to have some easy hills. I swear I am the worst, slowest skier ever! The kids also strapped on their skis. Big boy was amazing - he was whizzing down the hill in a few hours. Princess wasn't as good, but she is like me, cautious! Husband dragged her down the hill between his legs a couple of times.

Day five was long because after we left the ski hill, we went to our hotel (where baby boy had been with his papa all day!). Our hotel had a waterpark in it - talk about extremes! We changed into our swimsuits and played in the waterpark. It was back to our room for pizza and presents for princess.

Day 6 we spent almost all day at the waterpark. It was fun. Then it was the drive back to Sheboygan. Then we had dinner and did a few loads of laundry and hunted and gathered all of our stuff.

Day 7 we packed and spent the morning with G-ma and Papa. It was a nice relaxing morning. In the afternoon we headed off to the airport and began the long, uneventful trip home.

Today was totally a recoup day. Laundry, cleaning, and organizing Princess's room and baby boy's room for the new loot they have acquired. Tonight Santa is making a special stop at our house!

Husband has tomorrow off, so it worked out well. I work tomorrow night - I LOVE WORKING NEW YEARS EVE! Then it is off to my folks house on Saturday for Christmas #3 (after I hopefully get a little nap)! The kids are really excited about the all the extra Christmas's this year. HAHA! We had to do this you can't fly all these presents up north and we weren't going to ship.

I hope that you and your loved ones had a wonderful Christmas too!

My white flag is waving...

I claim defeat - I had tried to make English Toffee but got a huge fail! It was grainy and didn't harden, my husband likened it to slushy and he was right. Sigh. I will not cook any longer today.

It was a sign to stop. So I will. sigh.

I still have to make gifts for the neighbors and 2 more Almond puffs for Chris's co-workers who were out of town on Friday. And pack, and wrap and still shop for a few last minute gifts.

Oh and I have a shift tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to that. It should be a good one, but we will be crazy busy on Monday morning. The holiday rush of inductions. Anyone induced tomorrow will be discharged prior to the holiday - so they will be coming in 2 by 2's (if I remember the induction schedule right).

Billy Madison is on the TV just what I need brainless television - that makes me giggle.

I'll rev up for tomorrow (I think). Time to go throw the toffee slush in the trash before the kids find it in the morning....

The Last Push Is On....

I'm watching the oven as the Almond Puffs are cooking - well - Puffs 3 & 4. 5&6 need to be rolled out and put in the oven....I haven't even started 7&8. OUCH! Oh and did I mention that I promised husband I would have these ready for his department tomorrow?!? No problem!

I also have one teacher gift to finish - well no make that 2....

That being said - I'll be back. With pictures.

That was good stuff!

Okay - I'm up late, why you ask?

I love this movie - On Strike For Christmas. Have you seen this?! It's on Lifetime. It is too funny. I love Christmas, don't get me wrong and I love ALL the work that comes with - it's just a hilarious movie about a Mom demanding that her family appreciate her and all of her efforts around the holidays.

I found myself relating and laughing...a lot.

If you have time (or don't mind losing some sleep like me) you should watch it.

No one made me write this post other than me, wanting to share a funny movie.

Expressionery.com Review + 40% discount code!

Photobucket

When I was a little girl my favorite thing in the whole world was to have something, anything with my name on it. It was hard to come by, Fiona, was (it still isn't) a popular name in the U.S. So, my Mom always had stationary with my name on it. I loved it! I have to say I wrote a lot more letters!

Thanks to Expressionery and BzzAgent, I was given that opportunity again. I have to say I love the notecards that came. They are beautiful and ME. I have to give myself a little credit, I did get to choose.

Here are the notecards that I chose:

Photobucket

Now, you don't like those have no fear - Expressioneary.com has something that will work for you. Have an idea and want to design it yourself - perhaps your blog logo? You can do that too!

They have a million products - calendars, journals, announcements, address labels, recipe cards, etc. The list just goes on and on. Have a little reader that needs to have a Jonas Bros book tag or perhaps Hannah Montana, they have that too. All of the prices are very reasonable. Still not sure, well, do we have the deal for you! BzzAgent and Expressionery are giving my readers 40% off their orders right now, use the code BZZ40 to get your discount.

I tried this discount and ordered cute book labels for big boy's two teachers - with that code it was about $12 (without shipping - I had to express to get these here before the holiday party). That was for 32 book tags each! I mean really, that price is amazing!

While I was given notecards to try, the thoughts and opinions expressed here are strictly my own.....no other compensation was received.

The bug is back...

It seems like just yesterday we were fighting a stomach bug. As of yesterday, we were at it again. My stomach is in knots. The good news - it is just husband, me and the baby that are sick. So the older two, knock on wood, as of this moment are fine. HURRAH!!!

It's amazing how awful a Mom can feel but still has to get up and make breakfast (shudder) and clean up baby sick (bigger shudder). Yesterday was quite honestly the longest day ever. Husband of course had to work late (ugh) and this morning while he is sick in bed, I'm making waffles (frozen) and lunches - I would love to still be in bed - stomach is still in knots.

So, this all you will hear from me as I attempt to get better before the weekend... :(

Thanks everyone for participating

Thanks everyone for participating in my pseudo giveaway. I've gotten 3 interested takers.

So, I'll be mailing those coupons out as I get addresses.

Hope you are having a great week....

Renuzit Come and get it 1st come 1st served

I was chosen to try the Renuzit holiday line. I was sent a free Apples and Cinnamon Renuzit to try. I have to be honest, I wasn't sure if I would like. I am not a fruit person. I nervously opened the package and was pleasantly surprised - the combination of cinnamon and apple isn't overwhelmingly apple it is a nice pleasant combination (still a bit fruity for me - but I really don't like the smell of "food"). So, I'm excited that I was also sent some coupons to try their other scents: Holiday Cookie (not sure if I'll get it - not my type of cookie), Winter Berry, Festive Snow (we have a winner!).

Okay friends - Renuzit also thought of you - I have 6 coupons for adjustable cones given to me by the fine folks at Renuzit. I'm not going to do a giveaway - just the 1st 3 people that express interest, I'll mail you 2 coupons each.

Thanks for just coming to visit! Happy Tuesday!

While I was given products to try the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Forgive me

if the next few lines don't make any sense. I worked last night and only got about a 2 hour nap today - ugh.

Today was a special day at my work. I'm a Labor and Delivery nurse (if you didn't know). It is the most wonderful job - you are there when life is brought into the world, families are made - it is an honor to be there and witness those tears of joy. It is truly beautiful.

Not all of our times are happy, we have tragic moments and they are real tragedies. The kind that you carry with you and you see their faces in your blinking eyes for months, years. These are the patients who lose that little life, that little baby - it's enough to break your heart. Just the thought of some of my families can bring me to tears.

So every year, around this time, we have a Memorial Service at work, bringing those that want to participate to a ceremony honoring that little, precious gift that they lost.

So, during this season of celebration, joy and happiness - say a little pray for those that are suffering from the loss of a little life (no matter how little). Hug your babies extra tight and think of all the Angels around us....

Happy Birthday Little Sis!

Today is my baby sister's birthday! I was 5 when she was born. I think out of guilt Santa gave my older brother and I the best Christmas ever! My brother got a Coleco Vision and I got not one but TWO Cabbage Patch Kids (this is a time when they were red hot!). My Mom later told me that she had to drive to a Toys R Us in Ontario, Canada to get me one or two.

Now that I've thanked you for being the reason for the best Christmas ever! I want to thank you for being you. Smart, Sensible, Successful - that's you!

It's your day Lady - we love you and will be thinking of you. Give your mean cat a hug from me!!!

Sidenote - her cat, Charlie hates me and my family! He hisses and growls at all of us and we are cat people. I'm kitty offended! Even when I fed that darn thing he practically attacked me! He is a mancoon to boot (so he is a cat on steroids!). LOVE YA CHARLIE!!! MUWAH!

Dial Healthier You - ME? GET OUT OF TOWN!

I am flattered and have to say thank to Dial for selecting me to the Dial Healthier You Program. I have to say I'm flattered. I really have been trying to shift focus the last few months for constantly being everything to everyone and giving a little time to myself and I don't just mean in the potty.

This is that time of year where it is so easy to neglect ourselves. We don't eat the way we should, we don't exercise (okay this one might just be me) the way we should. I know I get lost right now. So, I am thrilled by this opportunity by Dial to make ME, yes ME healthier. Amy Hendel will be guiding me on this taking care of myself adventure. Amy is an author, who has a new book btw, 4 Habits of Healthy Families, wellness coach and so much more.

SO, the week one focus is on nutrition - I'm glad to say I didn't read this one before work last night or I would feel guiltier than I already do for the oh-so-delicious hamburger with grilled onions and french fries I ate last night at midnight. So, what I ate last night is a big no,no (which I knew but mmmm, french fries).

Amy reminded me, that I am what I eat. Ugh, feeling even more guilty. I don't want to be a french fry! So, keep whole foods in my diet and keep processed foods to a minimum. Consider it done Amy! Those aren't really changes for us, thank goodness! But once again it is an excellent time of year to be reminded.

Next Amy shares the 3 aspects of skin care.

1. HYDRATE - we can't emphasize this one enough people! You are over 60% water, give yourself a refill. Your skin and many other parts of your body will say thanks! And don't forget the Omega 3's!

2. Fight the zits! It really does amaze me how one can get wrinkles and zits at the same time (that is really not fair!). So incorporate pumpkin seeds (how appropriately seasonal), zinc, veggie baked beans and garbanzo beans (fire up the white chili!).

3. And the final one - fight the anti-aging. How do you do this?! Say no to the sun with no SPF, and Vitamin E (what has Vit E - tuna and cereals)

And when you go to the store - don't forget to grab your Dial products!

Alright - my lesson is in!!!! thanks again Dial!

The Day After

I hope everyone had a marvelous Thanksgiving! We sure did! It was wonderful. Full of food and fun. The kids were great and the baby only slept through like half of Thanksgiving dinner. (We ate right at nap time). It was nice though because both my husband and I got to enjoy myself. IT was lovely!

Yesterday, husband hung up the Christmas lights and I handled the indoor decor. Our house has Christmas everywhere!

Now, I'm a BIG Scentsy fan. I have to tell your though, I did buy some Better Homes and Gardens Christmas smelling bars at Walmart for $2 and if you can find them, they smell amazing!

Back to the grind for this Mama today. I work tonight and Monday, so I'll be a zombie! LOL!

Please enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!

Oh and Black Friday - NOPE, I hit a few online sales last night and got a start on a few things, but lots of work to be done!

Gobble Up My Friends

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I'm so thankful for the many blessings in my life - I thought about rambling them all off but decided it would sound a little like an acceptance speech :) With you all playing the music trying to cut me off in the background!

I wish you all a day of nothing - nothing but food, family and fun. BE SAFE IF YOU R TRAVELING!!!

We are having an early dinner today, as my poor brother got the work straw this year (I had it the last 2 years). We all agree we would rather work Thanksgiving or New Years than Christmas.

I grew up in a family where Dad was usually missing at least 1 holiday a year. If we got upset or frustrated he would remind us that at least he got to come home as opposed to the people staying that were ill or injured. He always taught us to be grateful for health. (and that hospitals are 24/7 businesses).

Funny enough 2/3 of his children now work in the hospital, so between the 3 of us, someone is usually working the night/day of the holiday or on the eve or the day after.

So, that being said, I am sure that I will come back with some funny stories of my husband trying to corral the children in my parent's house. LOL! Hence why I was busy yesterday, I wanted to make sure all I had to do when I got to Mom's was heat a few things up.

Wishing you nothing but the best on this holiday season. Let the games begin! It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!!

Twas the Day Before Thanksgiving

when all through the house
all the creatures were stirring for school was out
The turkey was stuffed on the stovetop with care
In hopes that Nana and Grandad soon would be there
The children were hungry and needed to be fed
While visions of kitchen disasters danced in Mama's head
The shopping still needed to be done
and going to the store would not be fun
The store would be so busy
the thought of it made me dizzy
Away to the mini van we flew like a flash
Do not forget the list left on the van's dash
When what to my wandering eyes should appear
but a parking spot that is not at all in the rear
Pushing the cart she shouted each ingredient by name
More rapid than eagles her barks came
Now butter! Now milk! And do not forget the wine!
To the back of the store, to the front of the line
Get into the van, we have got to get home y'all
Now drive away, drive away, avoiding the mall

With a trunk full of groceries and the baby too
They started fighting I heard in the back
Give me my toy, I want it back.
With my head spinning, I turned around
You better shape up or your heads I will pound
Into the driveway I drove like I was crazy
I am probably forgetting the rest it is starting to get hazy

The goods were brought in bag by bag
I do remember, I was starting to nag
The recipes were ripped from the pages
I had not made some of them in ages
With hungry children playing at my feet
I really hoped we could keep the place neat

As the day wore on it became such a drag
for I knew I was becoming such a hag
I swore that I would never do this again
But we all know what happens in the end
I made all stuffing, the pies, and ham
My mother god love her still wanted lamb

The dishes were done, the kids were tucked in
I got it all done I said with a grin
And now I am finished, so let the festivities begin

Happy Thanksgiving to all! And to all a good night!

This is just a silly little thing I wrote while avoiding the grocery store. It made my tired self giggle. ENJOY!!

Talk some sense into me!

My children are wonderful, I love them, really I do please believe me when you read this post....

Items destroyed by my 3 angels in 2010:
1 broken window in the playroom
1 broken window in the garage
1 broken window in our foyer
1 broken bike
2 lamps from their bedrooms each specifically purchased to match their "decor"
1 broken living room lamp
65, yes, I counted, 65 broken DVDs
Broken toys stopped counting, but a lot, enough for all the children in a small nation each to get a toy
1 broken lamp in the yard - think baseball bat smashing glass - AWESOME!

1 broken tv (this happened over the weekend and pushed me over the edge)

Keep in mind these are not "accidents", they are intentional acts of destruction. My angels aka demons have a habit of not respecting their things or ours for that matter and breaking them. The playroom is disgusting. I've cleaned it more times than I care to share and I know that is my job as a Mom.

I've had it though. I know what is coming. It is the time of year when my children get a huge influx of toys - between Christmas and their birthdays this time of year is crazy. I was going toss a bunch of baby toys but the baby is old enough to play with toys (so much for my plan to keep him a baby forever).

Last night, when they broke the TV I lost it. I pulled out my phone and called my husband's cousin who often stands in as Santa. I told him what they had done and told Santa to bring toys to children who won't break them and will respect them. I don't think that my point got across. Today I found them intentionally snapping crayons, what happened, a snapped Mommy. ARGH! Everyone got sent to their rooms while I tried to become myself again.

I talked to my husband on the phone and told him, no Santa gifts this year. Instead, we would take this as a lesson and learn about charity and giving to those in need. My husband was appalled. He can't believe that the thought would cross my mind. How could I be such a monster?

Am a I monster? I think that I am using this time of giving and love, as a means to make a point. Give unto others. I would craft a note from Santa talking about all the children who need more and who don't have anything, let alone extra things to break and not respect. Am I wrong? Is it wrong to try to teach them a lesson? Am I just crazy?

HELP! My husband thinks that I am so crazy he wants me to call my Mom so she can "talk some sense into me".

If you have advice for how to teach my children how to respect their things, please share. Also, regardless of what happens we do give a lot of toys to charity right now, I have a huge box of goodies in the closet to bring to Toys for Tots, this would just be extra.....

To be Princess

Tonight was Cub Scout night. It was going to be fun, a tour of one of local news channels. How super fun is that !?! I think that I was more excited that than the kids. Being in OK, I couldn't wait to meet the man that interrupted all of my favorite programming or assured me that I was just missing commercials. I also wanted to ask if he knew Reid Timmer from Storm Chasers! Of course I didn't ask that question.

The night started off great. We went to station, along with all of the other Cub Scouts and their parents. We were standing in the lobby and the weather guy was talking to the kids. He had made a few snarky remarks about the sports guys. One of the sports announcer's walked in and introduced himself to each person individually including Princess. Princess told him her name and asked what he did, he replied, sports. She looked at him scrunched up her nose and said that guy (points to the weather man) doesn't like you very much. I could have died, sarcasm is often lost on an almost 5 yr old. The sports guy looked at her, bent down and said, well to be honest I don't like it when he runs over his time to tell you that it's windy and cold. You can look outside and see it's windy and cold. Priceless. The adults laughed and she smiled, not having an idea what he meant by what he said.

The tour began and she was front and center for the whole thing. When it came time to play on the green screen, she ballet moved her way right through it, making sure that she watched herself on the screen. One of the other dads noted she isn't shy, my reply, no she isn't.

Come On Man!

I love the segment on Sunday nights! It's my fave. The guys are so funny or the mess ups are that bad. HAHA! Of course I missed it today, boo.

I love football. I love watching the games, I love the sportsmanship, I love cheering for the underdog or my team or against a team. I love that the kids and Daddy love to run outside and play "football". There are no rules really, they just all run around the yard and the football is with them.

I love Bubba. Have I introduced you to Bubba?

Photobucket

This is Bubba- he gets put up before every game and taken down shortly after. It's a bit ceremonial. Hubbie gathers the children and the extension cord. Depending on when the the game is, that determines where in the yard Bubba will be displayed. We looked out to the front yard on day a few weeks ago and a man had pulled over and was snapping a picture of Bubba. - our neighbors probably hate us. There was one night when I had to get Bubba ready because hubbie was going to be late. The children critiqued my Bubba skills.

Recently though, football has become very scary. I don't remember the amount of head injuries or the helmet to helmet hits even 5 years ago. Perhaps, as my hubbie and I were guessing that head injuries weren't as well diagnosed until recent years. It just seems that every week a player (someone's son, brother, cousin, husband, or sniff Daddy) goes down hurt. As I am writing this there is an injured player. I just watched his head collide with another player and you just know, it doesn't look good. He gives a thumbs up when he leaves the field and I am blubbering like a baby.

Big boy has desires to play football, I'm just not certain how the heck I will stomach that! Someday that could my boy playing highschool ball getting creamed and not able to move. No one will be able to stop me from running out onto the field. My work practice and my mommy self will kick in.

I've tried to tell him that golf is a lovely game or perhaps he would like to be a kicker - it hasn't worked. I have 2 years to get him into another sport besides football - he does like basketball, I just need him to LOVE it.

The best made plans...

I don't remember what the exact quote about the best plans is, but we made plans this weekend to take the kids down the turnpike. Apparently their zoo is better. So, off we go! When we go to OKC we can see my sister and my husband's cousin in one swoop (I make it sound like we have done this before - that would be a No).

Well, I sensed trouble yesterday. Little boy was back at the dr, we got another round of antibiotics for chest funk. Hmm, fun fun. His GI system hates antibiotics. No amount of yogurt I give that child prevents the yucky diapers that come with the drugs. UGH! Those started today.

I had no more put his pants and shirt (shudder) in the washer when big boy came home. He sat on the couch at 3:40pm and literally didn't get off the couch until bedtime. I took his temp - yup -he had a fever. I gave him some Tylenol and we cuddled. He said he felt better at bedtime, but he also listened to our conversation about not going tomorrow. That made all of us sad.

I just don't want a blow out in the car on the turnpike (more shuddering) and I don't want Big Boy to be sick for his short week at school. So, I don't know what the tomorrow has in store for us here - hopefully at least Dad and the older 2 will be off! I will be on poop detail.

Gotta love poop detail when it also includes laundry and a bath....everytime (shudder!).

HAPPY SATURDAY FRIENDS!!! Do something extra fun and think of me.

Thank you

Thank you very much Jen at Our Journey with Mico-Preemie Twins for the $65 dollar CSN gift code! I assure that it will be used.

Husband and I had fun searching tonight - perhaps a doll-house, perhaps pillow pets (both kids have wanted one for almost a year now!). Who knows what the gift code will buy! We decided to see if CSN will have any Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals before we commit!

Sleepless in Tulsa...

I work nights - I shouldn't say nights - it is truly like one night a week. On the first of October, I cut my hours back again and am only working one night a week. Some months, less. So tell me please why in the world after 2 hours of sleep, I am wide awake?!?! I did work Monday night and had no sleep before my shift and only a four hour nap on Tuesday. I was pretty ready for bed last night. ;)

I really do love to sleep. Tonight, husband's snoring was too much. No amount of shoving or moving was helping. My mind was racing when I woke up. I just laid there and decided, I may as well get up and work on my grocery shopping list for tomorrow morning.

Today is jammed packed! Little boy has a doctor's appointment and I need to get to the store before his appointment because it will be nap-time when we get home. Princess and Big boy have school. After school, we go to tumbling and ballet/tap. Sometime in there I have to run to the fabric store. I also need to run to a children's boutique and the post office. I also have a new baby to see and to drop off a baby gift I made. I don't think Little boy will appreciate our schedule. He usually doesn't. I might save some of the fun for Friday - now I am rereading the to-do list trying to decide what I could procrastinate until Friday.

Friday is girl's day at our house. Little boy and Big boy have school, so it's just a fun day for us girls to hang out.

Hmm - I should probably stop this stream of consciousness and go back to bed....I don't make a lot of sense at 4am...

I hope you all are peacefully dreaming....

The blah blahs

I made chili and cornbread on Sunday. It was good! So good! I posted the recipe for the cornbread on the recipes tab! I'll be trying to update that more.

Thanksgiving is swiftly approaching and I'm sure I'll be menu planning with Mom this week. I missed Thanksgiving last year thank you laboring women! HAHA! :( So, I'm really excited to be there. Yea Turkey day. We celebrate 2 birthdays and do dinner. It's just nice to get us all together. We (my side of the family) live in the same place, we are all just busy!

Cyber Monday. So, I'm not to keen on getting up really early on Friday morning, I prefer to lounge in my pj's with my tea and shop the cyber Monday deals. HOWEVER, I am irritated, I can't find any listings of the cyber Monday deals. ARGH! I'll be searching, I'll post links here as I find them.

Oh and I've been busy making baby presents. Round 2 of the baby wave has begun, this wave almost all girls. So, the sewing machine has been whirring. I'll post some pictures of those items.

I have to say they are pretty cute and I've been tossing around the idea of opening an Etsy store. My hubbie assures me the stuff would sell especially if I went to his work. I'm pondering. I'm also thinking that I will have to have some inventory. I'll probably start working on that as I'm in the sewing mood anyways.

That's the happenings! Catch ya on the flip side.

It's Painful to watch....

My big boy is awesome! He can be wild, funny, and he is so athletic. The kid can swim like a fish, his basketball ability was shown this weekend at his first game. Sidebar to brag - he scored 16 points and he had 16 rebounds (the team only had 20 pts). I am so happy for him.

Two weeks ago, I got a call from the school nurse, she expressed concern over big boys lack of participation and how quiet he is. I explained that he is painfully shy. In situations such as school where the concept is new, he does (and always has) tended to withdraw and keep quiet. Anyone who has ever been to school can understand, maybe if I just keep quiet they won't call on me (I used to try this one in geometry...). So, I took that phone call as just a concern from his teacher and nothing more.

Yesterday, I took him to a birthday party. It was full of kiddos from his class (it was a party for a girl but a few of the boys where there). We got there and he refused to sit at the table - instead he stood in a corner and picked at his scab (lovely!). Then, I got him to sit after much coaxing and by coaxing I mean threatening to take him home ( I did try nice first but I knew that wouldn't work). Then he wouldn't eat. That concerned one of his little buds to no end. His friend could NOT figure out one wouldn't eat pizza! He did eat cake (no ice cream) that was after I got him a coke (and we don't drink soda unless it is Sprite!). I was really trying and pulling out all of the stops.

It was in that painful 2 hours that I realized that this shyness was a little over the top. I decided to take on some research to see what I could do to help him. I am an extremely social person, as is Princess, there are no strangers just friends.

So I called upon the internet world to help, because if it's on the internet it's got to be true, right?

1st mistake - I realized I was wrong. I was helping him label himself. I oftentimes refer to him as shy. BAD MOMMY! Don't do that.

Oh, 1st good thing I'm, I mean we, are doing. Basketball - he rocks. Enrolling in him in activities that he is good at is good for him! YEA!!!! ME!!!

2nd good thing, I did, find different ways for your child to socialize with children his age. AHA! I did this one too. This year, I broke my own rule and signed him up for 3 fall activities. Basketball, Cub Scouts, and finally tumbling.

Other sources that I read suggested that because he has friends and likes to play and has no trouble in one and one situations that he is probably just overwhelmed. He said he had fun, especially when we broke off to play games and he and I rode the go-karts together.

So, I'm less concerned. I feel that as he gets the self-confidence at school, he will participate more. In large group social situations, he will get it. I just need not to worry not everyone can be extremely social like me.

Oh, and I took princess to a party after that party. I could have left and she never would have known....so independant...

Maybe we are doing something right

Have you ever questioned your ability as a parent. Seriously there was no test - they just let you walk out of the hospital with a baby. Even with big boy - we filled out some forms and had a home study (which meant I frantically cleaned my house for 5 days making sure the closets were organized - just in case) but no true test of parenting.

Earlier this week one of husband's co-workers lost her house in a fire. He knew I was home, so he texted me to tell me. I immediately wanted to know what size clothes her boy was wearing. He was somewhere in between big boy and little boy. He found out and told me.

I went upstairs to little boys closet which is really a storage shed for everything baby and started to go through clothes. Princess walked in the room and asked me what I was doing. I told her I was gathering clothes for a little boy who had lost everything in a fire. She said, "that's so sad Mama" and off she went.

She returns 15 minutes later, her arms brimming with toys. She said Mama you can't just give him boring stuff. She was so right every toy that child had was also lost in the fire.

I told the story to my mother in law who wasn't at all surprised at her grandaughter's generosity and she reminded me that as an adult we only consider the practical. What do I need to make it through the night. My princess was thinking what would I miss most, her toys.

She then asked if we could go and get him some new coloring books and crayons. Of course I said. I was so proud of her. It was there for a fleeting second that I realized that maybe, just maybe we are better at this parenting thing than we thought...

I'm surprised they are still eating it....

PUMPKIN that is. I thought by now I would have pumpkined my family out. We've had pumpkin bread, pancakes, bars, dump cake, ice cream and tonight it was pumpkin soup. The kids still haven't tired which is good, believe it or not I still have more pumpkin up my sleeve.

Perhaps because I am varying the preparation? I'm not sure. I don't make pumpkin all year long until I want it to be fall. So 3 weeks ago I started whipping out the pumpkin. Perhaps it was last year's pumpkin shortage - do you remember that? Panic in the pumpkin aisle!!! It was kinda funny. Stores here in Tulsa were advertising that they had pumpkin.

I hope I never live to see another pumpkin shortage. It was ugly.

Not your Typical Wednesday

Today wasn't your typical Wednesday. Well, it started off normal, but it wasn't. I got a phone call from my husband. This wonderful woman he works with, lost everything in a house fire today.

My husband works for a fantastic company! They were rallying the troops by 11am. I called him the second I got the message. Her little boy is in between my boys - so I went digging through the clothes boxes. I found some pants, shirts, pj's, sweaters and a coat.

My daughter came downstairs and she was asking me what I was doing. So, I told her about a little boy who lost everything in a fire. I was getting some clothes together for him because he only had the clothes that he was wearing. She said, that's sad and went back upstairs.

She came downstairs a few minutes later. Her arms were overloaded with toys. She looked at me and said, Mommy you can't just give him boring stuff, he needs new toys too! I almost cried. She then told me that we needed to go and get him crayons and some coloring books. So we did. I love that girl and I was so proud of her in that moment.

In that fleeting moment I thought maybe I am doing something right...

It's November!!

Some people think of it as a gateway to the holidays, in our house it is so much more than that!

It's our dog's birthday! Zeke will be 3. But no, that's not it. November is National Adoption Month!

It's a big deal around our house. One of the happiest days of my life was the day I became a Mom. It was through the love of another woman that I got that achievement. I owe everything to this woman. My big man is amazing. He is sweet, caring, the best big brother EVER! Even when he was 21 months, he was the sweetest thing ever (that's how old he was when I brought Princess home).

I think of our birth mother everyday.

This poem makes me blubber every time I read it:

Legacy of An Adopted Child:

Once there were two women who never knew each other.
One you do not remember, the other you call Mother.

Two different lives shaped to make you one.
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun.

The first one gave you life, and the second taught you to live it.
The first gave you a need for love. The second was there to give it.

One gave you a nationality. The other gave you a name.
One gave you a talent. The other gave you aim.

One gave you emotions. The other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile. The other dried your tears.

One sought for you a home that she could not provide.
The other prayed for a child and her hope was not denied.

And now you ask me, through your tears,
the age-old question unanswered through the years.
Heredity or environment, which are you a product of?
Neither, my darling. Neither. Just two different kinds of Love.

A few weeks ago, I had the most awesome experience at work. A birth mother was delivering, the adoptive parents were in the waiting room. I worked with the adoptive family and the other nurse worked with the birth mother. I forgot (well, sort of) how awesome the experience was. I got to tell that adoptive mother all about her new baby. How much she weighed, how beautiful she was. The best part, I got to take that new Mom to the back and watch her hold her baby for the first time. As she cried tears of joy, I was back 6 1/2 years ago remembering that same flood of emotions, I cried with her. I took the first picture of her holding her new baby. It was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

If you ever have the chance to meet an adoptive mother ask her about the first time she found out she was going to be a Mom. I have experienced both - the positive pregnancy test and the phone call that I waited years for.

Both experiences were awesome (don't get me wrong!). The adoptive experience is so unique, so unfamiliar to most. Take the time, ask the questions, investigate the story. You'd be surprised....

I knew this day was coming...

I have officially become nothing more than a taxi cab in a minivan. I thought it would take a little longer. Like all of them being at least in kindergarten. Alas, no such luck.

At 5pm, I needed to slice myself (and my wheels) in at least half. We had to be at school to pick up the big boy, at basketball with the big boy, and at gymnastics with the princess. Do you think any of these places are close to each other?! Not even. Granted my house is in between all of them - that meant I drove by my house 4 times as I ran the circuit. It was awful. The baby really let me have it! We got in the car at 4:45pm and didn't get out of the car for more than 5 minutes until 7:10pm. He screamed, writhed, and cried to let me know he wasn't happy. Poor guy. Oh and didn't I mention he hadn't eaten (no wonder he was MISERABLE!).

Daddy came home sick from work this afternoon - he went to bed at noon and didn't get up until after 8pm. We (the kids and I) had just gotten over the flu. Ugh. So, he isn't going near the kids with a 10-foot pole. So, no help there! I did try though - his phone luckily was out of juice and it went straight to voicemail.

Oh, here's the frosting! When I spoke to the coach on Sunday - he gave me the wrong time. Basketball didn't start at 5pm -oops! He said, oh right, sorry, it starts at 6pm. ACK! We were late for tumbling for no good reason!!! FRUSTRATION! Not to mention this is rush hour traffic here people!

Ahhhh, I can't wait for next Tuesday! Same thing different day! Except this time I KNOW basketball doesn't start until 6pm!

The inside story

I have a confession. I love, love, love documentary films - almost to the point of obsession. I wrote my senior thesis in college about documentary films (it was awesome). I sat in the library for weeks watching documentary after documentary and then I wrote some short 60 page paper about my “findings”. Any who - I found two yesterday that I greatly enjoyed.

Well, both deserve commentary but one is far more controversial than the other (so I'll skip that one). The documentary that I’m skipping, but I’ll at least give you the title is “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed” with Ben Stein. Sidebar – I used to love his show, Win Ben Stein’s Money – with Jimmy Kimmel. This particular documentary discusses intelligent design – hence why I’m not touching that one with a 10 foot pole.

The second one, was fascinating to me – “Nursery University”. Have you seen this?!?! It was so foreign to me! It discusses the preschool process in New York City. The movie sets the stage discussing the baby boom since 2000 and how there just aren’t enough “good” preschools.

It is funny to me, the principal of the Mandell school talks about how preschool isn’t the key to Harvard. If you listen to some of these parents on the documentary, you would think you went from 3 year-old preschool class to Harvard.

I can’t imagine that process. Can you relate?! Is the preschool market in your area competitive? I have to say with the baby, (yes, he is in “preschool” 2 days a week), I just made a few phone calls in July, he started in August. I toured the schools, talked to them on the pone. There were no applications. REALLY?!?! APPLICATION FOR PRESCHOOL?!?!

The application process in NYC starts the day after Labor Day and you don’t get accepted to March – then the tuition for these schools is insanity - $8,000 for a few hours a day for my preschooler?!?!

Maybe living where I do, I’m blessed or naïve. I believe that preschool is strictly ABC’s, sharing/caring, maybe a song here or there, nap, snack and home. Maybe I’m not obsessive enough, I don’t know. I got sucked in, fully intending to do a lot more around the house, but couldn’t!

Now – I don’t know if anyone is out there reading this anymore. But if you are – tell me did you have a huge preschool app process? Do you know anyone who lives in NYC who has lived through this drama!?! Is this everyone who experiences this stress or are this just the upper, crust elite?

Hello Again...

Today, I was going to reconnect with my blog with a purpose. I was going to have this thought provoking post that was going to explain my absence - where I have been, what I have been doing, why I missed obligations - but nope. I just missed my blog. I missed my outlet, I missed writing and sharing. I missed my bloggie friends. I missed the work that I was doing.

I was a bad, bad blogger. BUT - I'm back! I have a renewed spirit - many things to write about and I look forward to reconnecting and sharing. I apologize for my absence. I'm coming back with blogger guilt for letting my readers down (the giveaways that I never finished etc.). To you, I'm sorry. I hope that you'll forgive me. Sometimes there just weren't enough hours in a day to get everything accomplished.

I'm listing to blah blah on the View. I really can't stand this show. I need to get up and change the channel.

I also smell a stink coming from the baby - I better fix that before it becomes a larger issue....Ugh. I'm pretty sure I have a few loads of laundry that need to be done...

oh yeah, the poopy baby just walked by....

I'm glad to be back, I'll hope you'll forgive me, I missed you all....

Sunglass Warehouse Review & Giveaway

Photobucket

I was so excited when I was contacted by Mama Bzz and Sunglass Warehouse to not only review BUT also host a giveaway!!!!! Who doesn't need or want a new pair of sunglasses by this stage of summer!? ( I also feel that we should vote to move the first official day of summer back!).

There is something for everyone at Sunglass Warehouse. I found styles my husband loves with me that was no problem. I love sunglasses as much as I love flip flops. And I love some flip flops!

Here is a brief overview of the Sunglass Warehouse - free shipping on orders over $25, all sunglasses are under $20, 365 day returns, UVA/UVB protection on all styles.

Here are the sunglasses that I selected:

Photobucket

I am wearing these glasses everywhere. They've been in the pool, the bottom of my purse, shoved in my locker at work, "played" with by the baby, flung on the floor. These suckers have withstood all of this (without even a scratch!). I have to say I'm extra happy with all the baby stretching the head isn't loose at all - still fit like a glove!

I'm so happy to have these glasses in my possession - oh and did I mention these glasses are on sale right now for under $14?!

BUY THEM
Go to Sunglass Warehouse, order yourself a pair. You won't be disappointed!

WIN THEM

Hee Hee! I'm giggling for you really! I scored one of my precious, lovely peeps a $20 Gift Certificate! YEA!!!

I want to thank Mama Bzz and Sunglass Warehouse for allowing me to participate. I was given a pair of sunglasses to try but no other compensation was received. The opinions expressed here are my own. This giveaway will end on July 9th at 11:59 pm CST. Winners will be chosen via random.org. Please leave your profile public or leave me a valid email address so I can contact you if you win. Good luck friends!

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!?!

I'm sure all of you have been wondering where I have been or not. I have been lost in the throws of summer vacation would be the correct answer to that question. I've been here:

Photobucket

We had a great time! It was so fun. It was hot, really hot. But the two older kiddos had so much fun.

Then on our last day we went here:

Photobucket

That was fun - you can't bring me near a coast and not expect me to beg, plead, and cry to go to the beach. So I did, shamelessly in fact.

I attempted to take a picture of the fireworks but my camera is far to novice for that sort of nonsense, but here is my poor attempt:

Photobucket

It was a great time. After we came home - it was a world of laundry, work, and we have knocked out 2 camps. I'm tired!!!

So, my sweet friends I have several things coming this week. I have some winners to shout out, then I have at least one giveaway happening - perhaps more if I can get to it.

Oh and did anyone notice my rocking new look?!?! I really want to give a big thank you to Jessica from So Stylilized! I love it, I love it, and just in case you misunderstood I LOVE IT!!!!!

Oh, btw Micheal Buble just started his new tour in Tulsa last night - went to see the show - if you like him and he is coming anywhere near you - GO! It was probably one of the best concerts I have seen. It was amazing - he is really, really funny and of course the man can sing anything!

Belly Burner Review & Giveaway

The Belly Burner

Perhaps you have seen this one on TV....the Belly Burner increases your caloric burn by raising your internal core temperature. It is manufactured out of Neoprene which is the same fabric used to manufacture wet suits, remote controls, laptop covers and more. So, just by wearing this belt under your clothes and doing your same activities should burn more calories.

The Belly Burner

When I was contacted by Mama Bzz and Belly Burner to do a review of the Belly Burner, I have to say that I was excited. Since the baby, the middle section is quite a bit larger than I would like it to be. I wouldn't mind getting a waist back (it's harder than it looks sometimes!). And come on, who wouldn't love a belt that did all the work for you without requiring much effort?!?

This is what your abdomen looks like when the belly burner is being worn:

The Belly Burner

When the package arrived and I put on that bad boy right away, I have to say I felt the "burn". My tummy was sweating bullets in no time. It's hard to say if the belt was working or if it was just this heavy belt that I had strapped on myself in addition to carrying around a baby. My tummy was really hot and sweaty. The Belly Burner also provided a DVD with exercises to promote the functionality of the belt. I'll be honest - I haven't had a chance to pop that in the ole DVD player.

Here's a video of how it works:

That being said, I have to say that I will have to give the Belly Burner a little bit more time. I have lost weight since I got the belt - but I can't say that it for sure all the belt. I have been dieting and making sure to get more exercise. Perhaps the belt is just a reminder of that swimsuit that I have been wearing (in the backyard - Thank God!).

BUY ONE:
The Belly Burner retails for $39.95 without taxes or shipping. That includes the belt and the DVD and the nutritional guides. You can go to the website and purchase one online.

However.....one of my lucky readers can win one and give it a go on their own and decide for themselves what they think!

WIN IT!

MANDATORY ENTRY: This must completed in order for your extra entries to count! Go to THE BELLY BURNER and tell me one thing that you learned about the belly burner that I haven't mentioned here....

Mamabzz and Belly Burner provided this product for me to review - no other compensation was received. The opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Sometimes I'm a Little Bit Crazy....

For those of you that know me - you know that I can/ am a little bit crazy.

This is my confession. I've been really mean. I wouldn't turn the air on. The nights were cool and the temperature of the house cooled down, with fans and open windows it was really 'comfortable' in the house.

Not to my poor hubbie. The rest of us seemed alright.

The other night I worked all night long. I came home, the baby was awake upstairs I go - he is laying in his crib with just a diaper on - sweating. I figured he was just like his Dad.

Onto the other 2 kids - it was time to get up. I've got the little girl sweating in her pull up and the boy sweating in his underoos. GROSS! What's wrong with the kids?!?! And why on Earth did my husband let EVERYONE sleep without pj's?!?

So, pushing that to the back burner it's off to the kitchen to make breakfast, when I realize that I am sweating to death. DANG! We must all be getting sick or something.

Just for the sake of my sanity, I thought I'll check the thermostat. Holy Hotness Batman - it was 82 degrees at 7:15am! No wonder we were all sweating to death. I felt a little bit more sane. The older kiddos escaped - it was just a sweaty mama and a sweaty baby who insisted on being held. UGH!

It only took until 2:30 pm on a 90 degree day to get the ac working. But by then the chance for sleep had passed me by. So sad was I....

Here's the Bzzzz Covergirl Blast REVIEW

Photobucket

Thanks to the Bzz and COVERGIRL I had the opportunity to test drive the Smoky ShadowBlast and the ShineBlast Lip Gloss. Can I say AWESOME?!?!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

The ShadowBlast is a two step process. It's like an eyeliner for your lids ;) You can have professional looking results in about 2 seconds. There are 6 different color palates to choose from. And no special trip to the mall to get this product. You can buy this wherever CoverGirl products are available. The price is right on the money as well - it retails for around $7.99 (each).

The ShineBlast was really pretty. It didn't last very long - but it was really shin and gorgeous on.

I have to say that I was pleased with the results of both products. It certainly was easy to use, simple easy to follow instructions on the back of the box.

So go out and get yourself one to try!!!

WANT TO WIN A $2 OFF COVERGIRL COUPON?

LEAVE A COMMENT HERE. I will randomly select 3 winners using random.org. No other strings attached. Just leave a comment telling me what you think or your favorite CoverGirl product. I can't believe it's Friday!

WOW! I don't know about you all but this week has flown by!

We have been busy at our end. Baby girl's last day of school was Thursday. Then we had a performance at the Kindergarten class right after the preschool picnic. My boy only has one day left of school! ACK!!!

I have been taking the suggestions of my readers and have stocked up the craft cabinet (well, I made a craft cabinet).

We had several storms here this week. It was a good chance for me to clean out the closet under the stairs. The kids kept themselves busy playing in the closet. We watched the weather. We couldn't decide which network to watch - so hubbie flipped between our 3 networks.

Summer is going to keep me busy, I can tell. I'm really looking forward to it. Last summer I had the baby, the two summers before that I was in school. It is going to be pleasant not really having any demands other than my job and family....

T - minus.......

3 days of preschool left....ouch. And only 6 days of Kindergarten. Bigger ouch.

Oh my.....this weather better improve. It is rainy and cold. What are we going to do with our time if it rains all the time.

Ideas?!?! Anyone?!?!

We went to playgroup today - that helped burn off some energy - and I still managed to clean of the house (sorta). If my husband asks I scrubbed for hours. Thankfully (well, sorta). He doesn't clean so he has no idea how long it takes.

In better news - the baby was able to hang out in the playroom with his older brother and sister today for about an hour before he started to cry. Dropped him off yesterday at an hourly childcare place - he lasted 2 hours before they called and needed us to pick him up. As the color was sitting on my hair). Thankfully my mom was finished with her meeting and was able to get him. They told me he was a spoiled baby.....at first I thought I should take offense, but I won't. He is the only child that has been at home with me and it has been my great pleasure in spoiling him (years of mommy guilt - I HAD to work with the other 2).

Soft Scrub Total Kitchen Review

They heard my cries!!!! When I reviewed Soft Scrub Total Bathroom. I whined and cried about how I wanted to try Soft Scrub Total Kitchen.

Thank you Soft Scrub for hearing me!!!

So - when the coupon came, I hopped right on over to Target and got myself a bottle.

Full of anticipation and having prepped a nasty kitchen, I went to work. It was right before my company came. So I was excited to have one bottle to scrub and scour the entire kitchen....well, other than the floor. So, I went to work.

Once again I was amazed! It still smells great. The Soft Scrub Total Kitchen is very similar to the bathroom version in that you can have either foam or spray - which is very handy in the kitchen. My refrigerator, dishwasher, and ovens lost those pesky fingerprints with a few sprays and a quick wipe with the papertowels. And get this - NO STREAKS!!!! I was even able to clean the inside of my refrigerator with Soft Scrub Total Kitchen. It cleaned my granite nicely (typically I have a special spray designed for granite but like I said I had company coming -so hustle, hustle, hustle). It worked really well and the granite was shiney clean. The toaster oven, the stove and the rangehood all cleaned up nicely. I switched that bottle to foam and cleaned the sink - I typically use the Soft Scrub Cleanser with Bleach. I have to say, I was impressed. The whole kitchen (including the inside of the frig) was spotless within 25 minutes or so (now if my husband asks, it took me at least 3 hours).....

So once again friends, I would highly suggest getting yourself to the store and grabbing a bottle of Soft Scrub Total Kitchen.

Soft Scrub has some special offers on their website. Grab a coupon and hit the stores..

ps Don't worry if anyone asks, I'll tell them you slaved for hours cleaning your kitchen.

Disclosure - I did receive a coupon for a bottle of Soft Scrub Total Kitchen for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was received, the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Rain - I heart Rain

It's raining here. It's lovely. It makes my garden grow. It also makes my weeds grow. Last week I spent a great deal of time outside planting flowers, transplanting flowers, pulling up bags and bags of weeds, and moving a sprinkler around the lawn. That last one wouldn't be so frustrating if we didn't have sprinklers that we (I mean I) broke. I think that I broke, can't say for sure but I'll take the heat. I was okay with a few brown spots on the lawn until I drove home the other day and could see that we suddenly had the worst looking lawn in our neighborhood. Don't you hate when that happens, I do. So, my husband suggested that I call the lawn guy so he can fix the sprinklers. I refused, saying that I will move around the sprinkler. Until I get sick of it - then I'll call. Why procrastinate you ask - that's what I do best....well, almost I'm award winning at losing things - this week it was my check card.

My husband has learned to laugh. I haven't.

So, back to the rain. Thank goodness it's raining, that's one less thing I have to do tomorrow. Yea! No sprinkler moving for me!!!!

CoverMate Food Covers - Review and Giveaway

CoverMate Food Covers

So, I had a party. I think I mentioned that yesterday. A big party which meant a lot of food! Lucky for me, I was given the opportunity to review CoverMate Food Covers. This is the season for parties - graduations, showers, weddings, etc. That being said a lot of food is in/out of our fridges, not to mention the picnics, going camping and all the summer fun.

You want to be eco friendly?!?! (without using tupperware?!?!) Here is your chance. These handy, dandy covers are designed to fit over your existing bowls. For me, I prepped the salads and the baked beans the night before - thanks to CoverMate, I was able to store the prepped food in their serving dish! Less dishes to wash - awesome. I like plastic wrap - but feel nature naughty using it - use it once and toss. Not with CoverMate - these covers go thru the dishwasher! How awesome is that?!?! My bowls and serving dishes are not one size fits all - lucky for me - neither are the CoverMate Food Covers. They have this awesome elastic bands that fit around just about anything!

CoverMate Food Covers

And if you need more information you can view this video:

How do you clean these CoverMate Covers you ask?!?! The answer I already told you once - but you run these thru the dishwasher. You just place the CoverMate Food Cover inside out on a plate, bowl, cup, etc. and run the dishwasher. If you messed up both sides just flip it around and rinse under the tap (that's what I did). Worked like a charm!!!

Make your next gathering easy or just make daily dinner cleanup a breeze!

Now here are some offers you can't refuse:

CoverMate Food Covers has a great deal for my readers. You can go to their website - the link provided - request a free sample all you have to pay is postage (which is $3.95 + you will receive a coupon for $1 off your next purchase). AWESOME DEAL!!! Think of plastic wrap and how much one box of that stuff costs you - this is an investment really.....

CoverMate Food Covers has also generously donated a sample pack identical to the pack that I received - how cool is that?!?!

Company Invaded....

What a wonderful, wonderful weekend! My baby finally got Baptized! WHEW! What a weight off my shoulders - at least he wasn't the oldest child there! In fact, he was one of the youngest. That being said we had a large party! I've always had a get together after the Baptisms of my other children - but never on this scale. We had THIRTY-TWO, yes THIRTY-TWO people at the house. I don't know what happened - I just kept inviting people. Most of them were family (I love having our families get together). I know I am lucky that my family and my hub's family not only get along but like to spend time together. Then I invited the neighbor's. Always good to make friends with the neighbors. Then I added my daughter's best friend and her mom and my son's best friend and his parents. It was a good crowd! So fun - lots of food and cake and good company!

I almost can't wait to do it all again.

L'Bri Review

Skin care - what an issue. I am really lucky. My whole life, I've been blessed with pretty good skin. As I have gotten older, I've really tried to be good to my skin. I've used what I thought were really good products. I couldn't really speak to whether or not those products were natural.

I'd like to thank Debbie for giving me the opportunity to sample her product, L'Bri.

Let me start with a little product information:

L'Bri is an all natural product line. The products are aloe vera-based. The products are manufactured here in the United States, Wisconsin in fact. I had a lovely conversation with Debbie on the phone and she told me that we could have an opportunity to tour the plant in Mukwonago, WI. (my in-laws live in WI -so I'm up that way at least once a year!). What a fun idea to see the manufacturing plant where they make the products I put on my face. Clinque has never offered to bring me to the plant :)

I tried the Cleanser, Freshner, and the Moisturizer. I have to say that in a few days my face felt amazing! My husband who never notices when I color my hair noticed I had changed products for my face. He noted that my face was softer! WHO DOESN'T LOVE THAT?!?! I also was given a sample masque but haven't gotten there yet.

So go to Debbie's website and check out her L'Bri products. They are fantastic!

and don't forget to check out her blog - Debbie's Blog

I received product samples for review but no other compensation was received. The opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Febreze No Spill Wood Diffuser REVIEW

I was given the opportunity to review a Febreze No Spill Wood Diffuser. Have you seen these in the store?!?! One word - AWESOME!

I was careful about reed diffusers in my house. I have a little boy. A little boy and the reed diffuser are like oil and water, they just don't mix. Until now! I have a secret, no spill weapon. The Febreze No Spill Wood Diffuser uses Wood Wick technology.

The design is really pretty. Simple and elegant. I love it. The bottle itself doesn't have a big Febreze logo on it. The smell is so pretty. It isn't overpowering in my house and you can smell it everywhere.

The bottle has indeed been knocked over by a darn bouncy ball. I was really worried at first because it was on my husband's computer armoire. I went over to clean up and only had to stand the bottle back up. FABULOUS!

At Walmart, the Febreze No Spill Wood Diffuser comes in a variety of scents - Willow Blossom, Pomegranate Mango, Green Tea Citrus, Cranberry Pear and Honeysuckle Orchid. I got the Willow Blossom. LOVE IT!!!

The Febreze No Spill Wood Diffuser retails for around $14.99 at Wal-mart.

ModernMom Insiders were given this product to test by Febreze but this in no way influenced my opinion and there was no monetary compensation for my reviews.

I've had a death......

my iphone - well, I can't say for certain if it is dead, but the backlight isn't working making it impossible to deal with.

Then for some reason - it erased my calendar and my contacts. Sad sigh. I dont' write anything down it all goes into the iphone. I'm so sad. My poor husband also had an iphone death. So sad. It makes me want to cry.

I'm lost without it - it makes me sad.........

Oh to be witty....

First of all welcome to my new friends and my old friends!

I've been bouncing around the blogsphere partying with UBP10. The party is continuing to rock on! I've met some wonderful bloggers. I've also read some hilarious blogs. I'm green with envy. I wish I could be witty. I'll even take snarky (haha! read that on a blog last night).

The queen vs The Babysitter

I promised I would expound upon this discovery. On Thursday night we had a 2 sitter split. I'll explain. We had the sweetest, southern girl come babysit. Her accent was just so cute I could have bottled it up and sold it. She was so sweet (granted she complemented everything from my makeup to my shoes - who doesn't love that?!?!). Anyways - she came to babysit the younger two. The older was with a different babysitter because he was going to a birthday party. The sitter taking our older boy I've known forever and trust her to drive the little man around.

Sooooo, apparently in my excitement to rush out the door for a date - I forgot to sign the check for our son's babysitter. Ooops! Well, she dropped him off when she did, she caught the princess in a moment. She was standing at the top of the stairs in her pull-up declaring in a loud-crying- pitching-fit sort of way that she was not going to change into her pj's. Meanwhile the baby apparently was voicing his dismay also (granted I think that I set the babysitter up for disaster as the baby didn't take a nap). I was shopping I needed a dress. LOL! Okay, back to the story. Well sweet babysitter asks the other babysitter if she has ever sat for our kids before (Thank the Lord she has). She set that hot mess straight in a hot second. She took princess and quickly showed her who was boss - got her in her pj's and put her in bed. She told sweet sitter to go and read her a story. While our usual sitter got the baby changed and in bed.

Of course I don't know any of this until later. I can never figure out why sitter's hot tail it out of my house. I know it isn't my oldest - most sitters are lucky if he gets one word out the entire time they have him. It is clear - the princess is acting like a princess. sigh ~ the baby is just a baby and I refuse to blame him for being cranky (since I am blaming myself).

Needless to say - we have another night out tonight - a wedding!!! Who doesn't love a good wedding!? This one will be so much fun! Not that all weddings aren't fun - but I love this Bride, I love the Groom. It will be full of friends - sigh. Good times. I can't wait.

Even better the sitter is my mom!!! YEA!! She is keeping my 3 angels with broken halos overnight - so sweet of her - THANKS MOM!!!!

Now - back to the party....

ULTIMATE BLOG PARTY 2010

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

Welcome to the hodgepodge called my life, I mean my blog :)

I have reviews and giveaways of products that help me save time, save money, or both. Sometimes it is just something fun that I love - you never know. You will also read about my life as a working mom of 3 - 6 and under. You might learn about adoption, labor and delivery nursing, my life as the mom of an ADHD kiddo, an asthma kiddo, or a little queen who talks too much. I also learned tonight that the queen might harass the babysitter on the rare night out for mom and dad - more to come on that story later. I work nights so my husband takes care of the kids when I leave for work (I only work part-time - but that's still 2 nights a week). It is amazing how taxing that can be (on all of us!).

I love to share recipes that work for me - they are either delicious and take some time or delicious family friendly and super quick!

Long and short, I'm a minivan driving wife, sister, best friend, coworker, nurse - both paid and unpaid, daughter, daughter-in-law but my favorite hat is that of mom - I love it! My favorite job. :) Welcome to my crazy life.

Oh - did I mention the prizes that I would die for let me tell you (all of them) but I had to pick say 3 - $200 Wall Slicks vinyl wall decal, $50 Paypal, $60.00 @ Fashionsforyourlittleones.com - as I was going thru the list again - I really would be happy with any of the fabulous prizes. For instance - there are about 6 blog makeovers on there - I'd take anyone of those.

Jolly Llama Fruit SqueezUps

Photobucket

WHAT A HIT!!!!!! WE LOVE ICE CREAM IN OUR HOUSE!!! YUM!!!! The hubs and I are trying to watch our weight though. Yummy Ice cream doesn't typically fit into a diet - UNTIL NOW!!!! Granted it isn't ice cream - but man the Jolly Llama Real Fruit Sorbets are AWESOME! So tasty you won't even miss the cream!

Jolly Llama is founded by Mr. Scott Jacobson - who is a classically trained chef. The fruits used in these sorbets are picked at the peak of freshness. What does that mean to you? Well, it means the fruit is at it's peak freshness and flavor.

These yummy pops are all-natural, gluten-free, dairy-free, fat-free and GMO-free. Meaning there is hardly anyone who can't indulge in one. I shouldn't really say indulge. These frozen fruit squeezups are only 80 calories. I could hardly believe it.

When they arrived it was a warm day here in Oklahoma. How did they get here? In a box on dry ice - so cold the kids were able to eat one right out of the box. So, I let the kids eat these outside. They came in 5 minutes later with sticky red faces (ahhhh the little cherubs). Wanting more - but alas it was dinnertime.

Photobucket

There are several flavors to choose from: Strawberry, Blueberry, Mango, Acai, and Raspberry. When I was contacted by Jolly Llama I was asked to select my flavors. I choose strawberry and raspberry flavors to sample. I made an excellent choice if I do say so myself - both flavors went like hotcakes. I had no mommy guilt handing these tasty treats over. One night I came home from work and there were only 2 left!!! I asked my husband what happened?!?! He said they were good and not to blame the kiddos - he ate them.

I asked if he could just leave me one of each to try. Well, when I tried them - it was SO good! I could see how he had problems eating just one. These little treats are delicious.

I know you are asking where can I buy these tasty little treats. The only bad thing - sniff - right now they are only available in Northern CA and Arizona. BUT - here's what you do, submit a request to your grocer to carry Jolly Llama Fruit Sorbets in their freezer section. I know I will. I thought I would submit a request at Whole Foods - since Jolly Llama is sold at Whole Foods in Northern CA. I also thought I would ask my parents to pick some up when they are in CA - not sure how they will get them to me.....but I will develop a plan.

If you live in Arizona and Northern CA - get some of these tasty treats - because I am green with envy that you can.

Other than the samples I tested no other compensation was received.

"BABIES"

"The adventure of a lifetime begins…
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Balmès, from an original idea by producer Alain Chabat, Babies simultaneously follows four babies around the world – from birth to first steps. The children are, respectively, in order of on-screen introduction: Ponijao, who lives with her family near Opuwo, Namibia; Bayarjargal, who resides with his family in Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani; Mari, who lives with her family in Tokyo, Japan; and Hattie, who resides with her family in the United States, in San Francisco.

Re-defining the nonfiction art form, Babies joyfully captures on film the earliest stages of the journey of humanity that are at once unique and universal to us all.
"

IN THEATERS ON MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND - MAY 7TH

TRAILER

ENTER THE BABIES SWEEPS:

I am so excited by this film. I love babies (I think that my career kinda gives that away!). I love to watch and explore how other culture's mommy their babies during the first year of life. I can't wait to watch this movie! I'll have to ask my mom and maybe even go Mother's Day Weekend!

I received no monetary compensation for this post - I was entered in a sweepstakes for writing this blog post.

Label Daddy Review

Photobucket

Summer is quickly approaching which means the kids will be busy (they are already busy) but summer is off the charts. The kids are enrolled in many different activities in places that they don't normally go meaning people who don't know them. My oldest is extremely responsible. He hasn't lost a coat yet (knock on wood here).

The Little Queen on the other hand has made it her speciality to lose things (she gets it from me - I ALWAYS lose things). We have lost more than our fair share of sweaters, coats, hats, scarves, etc. I was thrilled when I was contacted by Label Daddy to review their product.

These labels are phenomenal and so cute! I was able to pick the style that I (I mean she) liked best. We ended up picking these precious Minnie Mouse Labels - the labels I got were laminated. The labels are safe to run through microwave, washer/dryer, and dishwasher (even without the lamination). I had so much fun - everything that girl touches now has her name on it. There are so many styles and designs to choose from. My son has already picked his labels and he wants the "Cars" labels for his camp things. Label Daddy has camp packs, combo packs, school packs and allergy packs. Now the allergy packs are awesome. None of my children have severe allergies, but if they did I would want to label everything with these especially their lunch stuff. ie NO NUTS!!! NO BERRIES etc. I would also want to note a bee allergy or something else severe.

Also there are zipper tags which are super neat. It just attaches to your child's zipper on their coat and BAM - it's labeled.

These are not the ugly labels I had on my things when I was growing up - these are fantastic. I have vivid memories of my mother standing for countless hours with her iron, ironing all of our labels onto our clothes. NOT THIS MAMA or you - thanks to label daddy - these awesome label are just peel ,stick and apply pressure. How cool is that?!?! There are simple application instructions on the website, but honestly - that is it - peel, stick, and wait to wash for 24 hours.

Here is a pic of the school pack including zipper tags (which I think are the coolest!):
Photobucket

The prices of these labels are extremely reasonable. The labels I received would be 50 labels for 24.95 (that price includes the fee for lamination). I keep asking myself - how much money I would have saved on replacing coats, sweaters, and hats if I had these labels. They are worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

So if you haven't ever been over to Label Daddy, go check these labels out - get your kids stuffed labeled with something cute and reasonable in time for camp season, school, or just going over to friends.

Label Daddy provided me with medium labels with lamination for review - no other compensation was received.

Happy Easter!

Wishing you all a safe, happy, wonderful, blessed Easter!

We'll be starting the day with church (of course!). I'll be spending today with my family - including my mom, SIL, nieces, and of course my kiddos and husband. After dinner, it's time to mosey on to work and help some mommies and babies.

Then something exciting - my babysitter (who is in her early 30's) is being induced with her first baby asked me to be her nurse! YEA!!! So, Sunday into Monday will be a long day. But a wonderful day! I'll be exhausted by Monday afternoon - but I'm so excited and honored to be there.

WHAT A WEEK! (Is it me or do I say that every week?)

The weather here has been absolutely amazing. This is why I love living in Oklahoma - so it's been a little windy, I'll take windy over cold. Best part - this weather looks like it is going to make it thru the weekend.

AAAAHHHH!!! I have discovered that I need to replace 4 sprinkler heads - hmmm. I looked it up on e-how and it sounds somewhat doable. LOL! We shall see.

The baby has become mobile (finally!). Crawling - yea!!!! I know that sounds bad, most mommies want their babies to stay babies forever and I would BUT, he was getting really frustrated. He was on all 4's rocking and rocking - for weeks.

I'm so excited for a wedding next week - date night! My mom is taking the kids (all 3 - God Bless her!). The reception is at the same location as my reception (8.5 years ago). So we are excited. It is just a busy time for us.....

Hope all of you are doing well.

Red Gold Tomatoes Review and Giveaway

I was contacted by Red Gold Tomatoes to do a review of their yummy (I'll get to that) diced tomatoes. I was expected a little something from Red Gold. To my surprise this huge prize pack appeared on my doorstep. The kids and I had so much fun opening the box. I was floored to see this:

Photobucket

I know that the picture is a little small - because there is so much stuff!!!!!

All of the gifts were contained in this super cute. oversized Red Gold Tomato Can - my eldest has already claimed it for Lego storage.

- Inside there were 3 sample cans of tomatoes - Plain, garlic, basil & oregano, and finally with green chili's
- 2 copies of an awesome cookbook "Heartwarming Recipes"
- Reusable shopping bag with the Red Gold Logo
- Magnet
- Magnetic Clip
- A copy of Red Gold Tomatoes Video Library and Media Assets DVD
- A Diecast Van Trailer with the Red Gold Logo
- Recipe Cards with various tomato soup recipes
- Floppy Jar opener

Let me start with a little history of Red Gold Tomatoes. Red Gold is a family owned Indiana based company that started in the 1940's. They grow all of their tomatoes locally in the Midwest (Michigan, Ohio, & Indiana). They don't just stop with canned tomatoes, they also have ketchup, tomato juice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, stewed tomatoes, chili beans, and so much more.

The tomatoes were so good! I checked out their prices at the grocery store and very reasonable.

For dinner one night I used one of the cans and one of the recipes from the provided cookbook. Everyone was pretty pleased. They loved the taste of dinner. My oldest kept telling me how he loves tomatoes now. That was awesome since we are still struggling with his lack of appetite and he scarfed dinner down like it was going out of style. I made the Tomato Basil Chicken Recipe btw.

WIN IT!! Win an identical replica of the oversized, stuffed full of goodies can I that recieved.
